Others that came to pay their respects were former Chief Minister Tan Sri Harris Mohd Salleh, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister's Department, Datuk Edward Khoo, Deputy Commissioner of Police, SAC Tan Kok Liang, Toh Puan Rahimah Stephens, Datin Nancy Mojuntin, Datin Jikolin Binion and Humphrey Chin.
It was on this day, 35 years ago that six Sabah leaders perished in a plane crash.
The leaders were former Chief Minister Tun Fuad Stephens, Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Peter Mojuntin, Minister of Finance Datuk Salleh Sulong, Minister of Works and Communications Datuk Chong Thain Vun, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Darius Binion and Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Datuk Wahid Peter Andu.
Syed Hussein Wafa, Director of the Economic Planning Unit, Isak Atan, private secretary to Federal Finance Minister Tengku Razaleigh, Johari Stephens, Fuad's eldest son, Corporal Said Mohammad, Fuad's bodyguard, Captain Gandhi Nathan who piloted the Nomad also perished in the flight. The Double Six Memorial now stands proudly after a facelift. There is a jogging track next to it as well as eatery and a gallery.
