PPR

Sabah should get a fair share for the PPR Units.

What is your opinion about the rural people in Sabah? Have you ever came across or reading about the poorest people in Sabah? My neighbor are one of the many citizen in Sabah who receives this so call PPR or People Housing Programme. For me, people who really qualified for this program must be proven poor and really need help from the government and not just knowing the assembly representative only to get this privilege. People around Kota Marudu and Kudat which I think the poorest people in Sabah really need this so call PPR programme. The government should think twice before giving or approve this PPR. Please help the people and ask what can you do to help the society. More story please continue read below.............

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor on Tuesday said Sabah should get a fair share of the 15,000 units of People's Housing Programme (PPR) houses to be built under the 2012 Budget.

This is because the people in Sabah really need such housing, he said. He was asked to comment on the RM443 million allocation from the Federal Government to build 8,000 units of PPR houses for sale and 7,000 units for rent. "This proves another success in the fulfillment of a promise by the Barisan Nasional (BN)," he told reporters after officiating at the launching of the State-level Integrated Housing Loan System (SPPB) at 1Borneo, Tuesday.

He also thanked the Government for the allocation to complete Phase II of the Tuaran Hospital in Berunggis. The 2012 Budget, he said, covers many aspects and provides a lot of benefits to the people, especially in the rural areas of Sabah and Sarawak.

On SPPB, he said it would enhance the level of efficiency of the Federal Finance Ministry in line with the vision for it to become a premier agency in financial management and in the national economy.

With the SPPB in place, he said Federal civil servants would be able to apply for housing loan online and obtain it almost immediately.

Hajiji said it is really commendable that the entire SPPB system was developed in-house by staff of the Housing Loan Section (BPP) of the Ministry of Finance.

"Indirectly, the BPP has contributed towards implementing the cost savings policy and reduced government spending in terms of preparation cost and system development," he said.

Through the SPPB portal, the borrower would be able to check the status of his loan application, repayment, progressive payment, ownership delivery, payment balance and annual statement efficiently and accurately.

BPP Secretary, Datuk Shuib Md Sukri, assured that the loan scheme is protected by insurance. He said a borrower could take out a maximum loan of RM450,000, while for couples the maximum is RM900,000. The online loan application, he said, has already started but that by January or February next year, it would be fully online. He said there are some problems in the rural areas in Sabah where the Internet line poses a situation for applicants.

"There are 300 online applications from Sabah in a month and 3,500 nationwide," he said. So far, he said there are about 3,000 borrowers under the scheme in Sabah. According to him, the budget for the housing loan under the BPP annually is about RM8 billion. There are 1.2 million Federal civil servants throughout the country.
