A former sports fanatic who has artificial heart has to 'charge' heart, especially during long-haul - by using a car cigarette lighter socket.
Chris Marshall, 50, forced to carry the bag containing the battery and charging the electrical plug when the bed every night.
Three years ago, he suffered a heart attack that nearly killed died and had to undergo surgery to correct heart valve damage and narrow.
Last year, the capacity of his heart plunged to 13 percent and a device inserted into the body to function as an artificial heart and pump blood throughout the body.
But, the battery lasts about four hours, and Chris had to charge it regularly.
The amateur photographers often travel far and will be charging 'him' to use a car cigarette lighter socket to make sure the battery is not depleted.
He is also a cable television engineer from Wembury near Plymouth, Devon said, "I will charge each time there is an opportunity.
"This device is very important to me but the batteries only last four hours so I had to charge every time.
"When I go to bed, I will be charging at the mains plug and if it fails to charge, so it seems good night for me."
He said, "My energy comes from the battery. If I drive to Cornwall, just return journey took three hours.
"So, to make sure I do not run out of battery, I will charge using the cigarette lighter socket in cars. It is not to be a problem as long as I do not need to replace to charge the satellite navigator.
"I'm probably the only person in Britain who had to charge him with a car cigarette lighter,"
