Kg Naradan (Nawanon)
It take nearly two hours from Pekan Ranau to Kg Naradan using 4WD. This village located near to Kota Marudu border where the condition of the road was totally extreme!! I used to hang out with my friend watching for the 4WD extreme sport which the condition of the track was same with the road to Kg Naradan. But what to do? I was assigned as an English teacher there and order must be obey by any circumstances. The name of the school was SK Naradan. It was about 85KM form Ranau Town. For me, it was the first time I came to this village. Huh what a journey... I was in Kg Timbua in 2007 with a good friend of mine Mr Zulkifle Situn, Mr Sondot and Mr Laurentius Kitingan for a social work. What I remember then, I was at Kg Timbua for a social work and doing a charity work at SMK Timbua Ranau giving free IT course. Kg Timbua is a village where I need to pass over before I reached Kg Naradan. After pass over this so-called Kg Timbua I have to travel again to Kg Tibabar about 10KM from there. For those who wanted to travel to this village, you need to use the road to Kg Tibabar as the main road to Kg Naradan. From Kg Tibabar it will take nearly 45 minutes to reach the village and the school after your cross over two river. This two river need to be cross before you can reached Kg Naradan. Well it was a tired journey. I was accompanied by my wife and father in-law.
I met with the headmaster and after settle everything there, we went back to Ranau. Surprisingly, it took only one hour and half to reach Ranau. I have to travel there again soon. I heard from the villager, it was the only road to Kg Naradan formerly known as Kg Nawanon. If the river flooded there was no chance at all to go back home. The details about the school, I will posted later. I shared some picture for you guys out there. The hardship I have been through I call it as "The Long Journey Of Teacher In The Rural Area" This school was located at the rural area and being label as P2 where the road was totally bad, no connection (Handphone) and no electricity. Only Four Wheel Drive can reached this village. For other Teacher who wanted to experience this... hah please apply for posting here!!! Good Luck.
