Sabahan mum wants her daughter's killer punished

The mother of Nurul Nadhirah Abdullah, the five-year-old girl whose charred remains were found on Thursday, will not forgive the person who murdered her. Roselyn Alan, 25, said she wants the killer to be punished accordingly."I don't know why anyone would want to do this to my daughter.

She was still a child and didn't know a thing. No, I won't forgive the murderer; I want the perpetrator to go through what my daughter had gone through," Roselyn said Tuesday. She had earlier received a condolence visit by Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff and wife Datin Bibi Zakiah Meraslam.

Roselyn said it was extremely painful for her upon receiving the calls from the police confirming the charred remains found at an oil palm plantation were those of her daughter, known affectionately as Dirang. She said she constantly asks herself why her daughter was subjected to such cruelty. "I'm not rich, I don't have any money. I don't even have any enemy," she said, adding that she could not sleep nor eat since Dirang's disappearance on March 1. She added that she had tried to look for her daughter by driving around the town from morning until night.

She described Dirang as a good and jovial child and said that she was constantly reminded of her, particularly during the time when she prepares milk for her youngest child, two-month-old Ainul Suhada Abdullah. She added that Dirang adored her younger sister and would kiss her and dress her with pink shirts. She also liked to play with colouring books and wanted to become a doctor, Roselyn said. "Dirang always asked for milk and food. She would hug us, and we slept together.

Before she went missing, she had a bread for breakfast and she hugged me and asked whether I loved her," she said. Police confirmed Monday, after a DNA test, that the charred remains which were found at an oil palm plantation in Nusa Damai, Masai, near here on Thursday were those of Nurul Nadhirah. Nurul Nadhirah went missing on March 1 after going out to buy instant noodles and eggs at a sundry shop at the Seri Delima Flats. Police have obtained a remand order against five individuals, including a woman, to help their investigations into the case.
