The Ruhiang-Kiulu Adventure Challenge 2012 registration which is supposed to be held today (Feb 18) will be postponed to April 21.
Organising spokesperson of the event, Steve J Mositun said the event jointly organised by Casero Events and Tamparuli District Office, has to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
He said apart from the registration on April 21, participants would also be briefed on the race, rules and regulations and safety aspects, among others.
The actual race will be held on April 22, he said, adding that Assistant Youth and Sports Minister, Datuk Jahid Jahim and Sabah Sports Board Chairman, Datuk Louis Rampas would be patron and advisors of the event.
More than 100 people took part in the event last year, with former radio deejay, DJ Othoe as the guest emcee, he pointed out.
"This challenge consist multi discipline tasks such as running, mountain biking, river crossing, traditional games at the check points which includess sling shooting, walking on coconut shells (teropok kelapa) and merampanau (walking on the bamboo stick)," Steve said.
"Apart from that, participants can race along the hillside while enjoying the beautiful scenery from the Ruhiang hill, where people would be able to view the whole Tamparuli town," he said.
Bikers who have just ventured into this sport can also join in the 'nature category', which is also a race on tougher routes.
"This is mountain biking and it aims to get more youths involved in healthy living.
"It is also to help promote Tamparuli/Kiulu town for its nature and beauty," Steve added.
