Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, said the initiative of the Road Transport Department (RTD) is aimed at reducing cases of the holder of a dormant and an appeal to renew the driving license expired more than three years. In addition, he said, the new method is an alternative to the warning notice system undertaken by the department concerned.
Implementation of the renewal of driving licenses by the co-CDL expiration date as the date of birth will involve agencies such as RTD, National Registration Department, Pos Malaysia and e-Services.
For date of birth on February 29, valid driver's license expiration date proposed in the February 28 and the date of renewal on March 1. However, if the licensee does not want to use that date, they must renew his driving license for a period of four years based on the next leap year.
Line adjustment driver's license expiration date, the payment will be adjusted through two methods that the holder of a license renewal period between the expiry of the license until the date of birth between 12 to 18 months, including the extension period, the government will pay the license fee for the extended period.

Cho Ha said, the holder of a license renewal period between the expiry of the license until the date of birth between 19 and 24 months, including an extension, they have to pay for an extension of more than six months but less than 12 months.
