In the past three years, I've read a lot of "Communal Reserved Land" articles from newspaper and blog in Sabah. Done some research regarding to this matter and this post arise from it. One of my finding was, there were a lot of Communal Reserved Land were applied and owned by big plantation company from Peninsular of Malaysia and Sarawak. There were also some company from Sabah owned by the VIPs involved in applying for the Communal Reserved Land in Sabah. There were a lot of local people lost their land where they thought they owned it but in the end... they got nothing because the land belong to other people. This happen in Ranau, Kota Marudu and Beaufort which I have read recently. The land owned by the local people in Sabah will be classed in NCR/NT and cannot be sold to non-bumis. The CL classed land can be sold to non-bumis. According to the Law, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class reserve forest cannot be applied but some of the villagers did not know about it and thought that they owned it when they clear up the jungle. If the Forest Department did not declare the land as a forest reserved then the villagers can apply the land. The "Land Department Of Sabah" and The Forest Department must look on it so that "The Communal Reserved Land Problem" can be solve.
I was quite annoyed when I read "Whatapps" from my villagers group discussing about 1000 acre of Reserve Land apply by "TUNASKAYA SDN BHD" for plantation purpose. I searched through the internet and found out that the company was based in Peninsular Malaysia. I don't want to talk more about this company but there are some question arise from my head. Are the company qualify to apply the land? Who are the eligible people can apply for it?. Below are the screenshot from my villagers whatapps group discussing about the matter...
